2012 Christmas Card

In September I blogged about great Christmas card photo ideas I was thinking of implimenting this year.  I really liked the chalk idea but could not find the right surface to have a go at it so then opted for the child and lights ideas.

So here is the card I have made for this year.  Photo taken and tweaked by me.

(The credits for this card can be found at Nuts4Digi)

I am so happy with the outcome and can't wait to get the printer warmed up so I can print them off and post.  This weekend I am hoping so that my overseas friends can get the mail in time.  Hmmmm I wonder if card sending is still the done thing.  So much is done on the internet I serious think cards might be an art form that is limited in life span.

Christmas Baking

Each year my children bake a gifts for the older generation in the family group.  This year I thought I would plan ahead what could be make and might make something fun for the school lunch boxes.

  • So the first idea I have is to make a sampler box just like this little bit of eye candy.  Personally I think that I will have the children try and make these kind of cookies as Annabel Langbein makes in this blog post.
  • Then I thought homemade jam or such like.   I know the children would have great fun squashing fruit and collecting fruit.  With spring here and summer fruit such as strawberries now for sale road side I can't wait to get started on some of these.
  • Then there are the homemade eadible treats.  Truffles, chocolate on a stick, maybe stainglass window cookies.  Really there are so many ideas out there it is hard to know what will work and what wont.

I am sure there must be lots of great recipes out there and when I find more I will update my post.  May you have a great recipes that my family might like could share with me here.

I can't believe it I am planning the Christmas Photo already.

With it being less than 100 days to Christmas and the last of this years school holidays almost here in New Zealand I have been sitting here thinking about my Christmas card photo for this year.  I have done the childrens portrait two years in a row.  This year though I am thinking that I need to spice the photo up as last years was hard to beat in the format I used.

So here is my short list for this year.

There is this tutorial I had bookmarked from last year at Weeds and Wildflowers.

Then I like this series from Joop Joop.  I love the desaturated look a lot.  Just wonder what 3 children would look like like this.

I think that this idea sure has some merrit for a Christmas card.  Look at this post from I heart faces and think it is worth giving it a try.

Of course what you really need are some ideas on how to make that great Christmas photo and on Kayla la Moreauz's web site you can read just some ideas to get you started.

I would love more ideas so I am still browsing but in one week I will be getting that photo organised and shot with my little point and snap camera.
