What is it?

The tree that this fruit comes from was saved and transplanted 18 months ago when we moved into this house. It smells like a citrus and spikes like some lemon and lime trees have. With this knowledge we assumed that it was a lemon / lime tree. This tree has struggled somewhat with its move but this year produced fruit. Surprisingly we have no idea what the fruit is. The fruit is quite lumpy and bumpy. We have not tasted it as we are not even sure if it is safe to do so. We don’t even know if the photo shows the fruit ripe.

Hmmmm what a mystery we have in our backyard.

I scrapbooked it too.

Wordless Wednesday 17 April

Even though as I type this it is drizzling with rain I know that it is not enough to fill our tanks or really break the drought in my area.  Fingers crossed that is not the case or else we will be doing a little more of this.

Just look how many men it takes to put the hose in the tank.

When you don't/ can't eat enough food.

Have you ever wondered what it looks like when you can't/ won't eat enough food?  Well here is what approximately 3 months of food for my son who is not hungry enough to eat (due to consuming about 4 litres of water each 24 hours.

Ok so there is some on the back seat of our little car too.  It is all liquid and all delivered through his mickey button as he refuses to drink it.  I know hard to believe he wont drink it when his is always so thirsty. But for him it is water or milk and that is it.  No point forcing it as he will just vomit is back up.  To be fair the brown boxes hold the food that is delivered over night as there are not enough house in the daytime.

Hmmmm.

I wonder how all this will change when his kidneys finally fail?

March in Numbers

What a busy month in house....well maybe that is the normal in my house.

So here are my numbers featuring number 2.

  • we had to buy 2 lots of  water to put in  our water tanks due to the ongoing drought.  Here we are with the water tank at our house 7.30 in the morning.  We were his second delivery that day.

  •  2 mornings of rain that's it since Boxing Day 2012.
Nothing like a happy rain dance when you get a little respite from the weather.

  • Hayden had 2 blood test 2 weeks apart because his creatinine level was very high even for him.  He has kidney disease.
  • We had to buy 10 bails of hay to keep the cow in our paddocks fed.
  • 320sq m of tin roof that makes up our house/ garage/ carport and 'man cave' was prepared and painted twice.  150sq m of deck is underway.

  • I/2 of our rather large wood shed is filled with enough fire wood, sourced (from a recyclable source) felled, split, moved and stacked.  I have to say in the middle of a drought it does not feel like we need fire wood ....but I really know better.  So I am happy that once those crisp cool days of winter hit us we will be able to walk around the house with our shorts and t'shirts on and the house will be lovely and dry.
  • Hockey started in our house with 2 days of musters and team selection,  to mark the ominous arrival of all those Saturday mornings of sport about to start.
  • I lost my car keys for the 2nd time in 18 months.  I am keen to find a solution to this problem I see to have.  Just maybe a bit of technology that helps with the find component might just help.
