Mum's Taxi
Thats me....Mum's taxi service. When my husband is away I am it for everything. Now that winter is here the winter sports kick in along side the Speech and Drama, violin and swimming. Naturally where one child needs to be the other two need to come as well and dinner needs to be well planned and even pre cooked so we can eat and run.
Today then is the list of must haves in the car when the taxi service is in action.
Ready charged DVD player
This is primarily for Hayden as we can't get out of the car in evening. It is just too much stimulation for him and he gets out of control. I have found that if we sit in the car with his favourite DVD then calm reigns ....well mostly reigns. Of course this means we get to listen to Elmo or Hi5 or even Barney for the 1000th time. (He is stuck in a time warp.)
Homework Box
This is a must. It has the essentials such as colouring in pencils, writing pencil, blue and red pen, a ruler, spare paper and a dictionary. Then all the individual, whose homework it is, just has to bring the things they need to complete. You know like the spelling list and newspaper article.
Snack
This usuallly includes dried fruit and a homemake cookie.
Sense of Humour
The final must have is a sense of humor. I started with McKenzie a thing I called The Days Funny Moment. Here she comes and shares with me her favourite joke or two for the day. This can be a time to relax and laugh just for the sake of it. I even found a couple of little joke books as a resource and it seems that many a spare moment is spent reading it for the days funny moment.

This I know
I felt very inspired today to write this to my son. I know that because of everything that has and does happen to Hayden, Andre sometimes feels lost.
Andre
I know that at 2 years old, our lives were for ever more changed. I feel that this has made you angry with the world at times. But these things I do know.
I love you unconditionally and always will.
You have an infectious laugh I love to hear.
You are generous in heart.
At the moment you are trying hard to find where you fit in the world.
You are great friends with your brother, no matter how different he is.
You love lego and designing things.
You give the biggest and most heart felt hugs.
You are crying inside for attention.
Son I know these things. I cant change the past but I want you to never forget I love you.
Mum
Then I created this page

Mistakes
In my mind mistakes can be just seen as learning experiences. Like just now. Here I am inside but my two darling little boys have decided to go out and play in the puddle. Now this is just not any sole deep puddle but definately ankle deep at the least. Just the sort little boys love.
So my mistake....not reminding them to stay out of the puddle. Why.....well I dont really know except that the last thing that I really felt like doing at that moment was dealing with all those wet clothes and cold little boys right on top of making dinner.
The puddle is about three metres wide and ankle deep and the bottom of the driveway.
Now I sit down to finish typing this and find that my mistake was in not letting them play in the puddle for longer and just be children.
I omitted to mention that not only were the boys playing in the puddle but they rode their bikes through too. Consquently Andre, all dressed for hockey got a wet bottom. Hard to see in the photo.
Next time I will remember this let little boys be boys just maybe change the timing of the adventure so I cant be part of it.

Lest We Forget
It is a day to remember those that have given of themselves in war particularly WWI and WWII.
ANZAC is represented by the poppy seen at Flanders Field. More information about this day celebrated in Australia and New Zealand can be found here.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
(Sadly, McCrae died 28 January 1918 and so did not see the end of the war.)
Lest we forget.

What is it?
What is it that makes for an organised house? Hmmm I dont know but if anyone finds out how to make it work more completely in my house please let me know. I have to say I miss the time when we had the lovely Rose and visit our house in Brunei twice a week to clean. She used to help me out when I had a party and other such things. I love everything to have a home and a place of their own. If only the children all knew this then I would not be running around so much tripping over toys.
Really what is about being a multitasking mother that keeps us going. Maybe it is just the great fun times we have.
Here are a couple of such moments.
