Monday Menu 9 April

The school holidays are here and I am trying to find some energy at the moment to do things.  Anyway here is my menu.

Monday curry chicken made by DH...it is his recipe so I have no link sorry.

Tuesday  Steak and baked potato with green salad

Wednesday  Braised brisket with potato and carrot

Thursday  Mediterranean Chicken Kebab salad

Friday  Coconut Chicken Curry

Saturday  meatballs and spaghetti

McKenzie sheepishly telling me that she was the first one up for her vaccination at school  and yes she passed out as well.  Hmmmm.  Personally I can't even see the sight of the needle.

March in Numbers

Phew I can't believe that April has just started and I am sitting here writing my summary for March.

158  is the number of roofing nails I helped my DH put into our new woodshed.  It is now full of wood ready for the cold weather to arrive in a month or two.  Of course I should add here that I am somewhat of a cold fish and have to have my house heated to tropical temperature during the winter.

8 is the number of hockey games played pre season by McKenzie.  Watch out when the season starts.

1 is the number of times the ride on mower has been to be repaired.  We need to be working as it is about 3 hours of mowing with a hand mower.

0 is the number of Tuesdays DH has been home this month to help with the hectic taxi service dropping children here there and everywhere.  Lucky for some to be overseas in some exotic destination while I am working hard.

Daylight saving ended and our clocks wound back 1 hour on Saturday 31 March.  Yeah for light as we step out to door to take McKenzie to the bus in the morning and of course for the extra hours sleep we had on Sunday.

The number of incontinence nappies Hayden uses every month is 93.  I just wish  there was a good way to recycle them.  Luckily these nappies are government funded because Hayden has a renal condition which produces a lot of urine.

Monday Menu 2 April

With the first term of the school year coming to a close and the 4 days of work this week being hard work I have decided that this week will comprise of freezer meals.  So for the first time ever I made 4 meals suitable for freezing hopefully making my week easier.  You know what I mean heat and eat...well almost.

Monday  Steak and Kidney casserole

Tuesday  bacon and egg pie with baked potato and peas.

Wednesday  Chicken casserole on rice. (recipe to come later this week)

Thursday  leftover casserole in a pie with salad

Friday  cold meat with potato and salad

Saturday  Super-Savory Calzone Danish by Hungry Girl (scroll down for the recipe)

Sunday  picnic out

and I thought........

Last night was the night when our clocks turned back an hour.  A sure sign that winter is on the way and that the mornings would become light again.  At least for a few more weeks.

I went to bed bracing myself for a 4.30 am child alarm clock.  That child being Hayden as he is either awake or asleep, there is little in between.

So to my surprise I was not woken til 6.30 am, his bedroom still in tact (if you know Hayden then you would know that some mornings we have to put gloves on to clean his bedroom) and one very happy child.  I have to say two very happy parents too.  Long may it last I say.

Enigma

Life is really too short to be small.  I don't think that there has been a truer statement.  So with a bit of fun and effort to make something digital look like doodling here I go representing this quote.

Just how many hands are needed to screw the numbers into the tree.

Sadly I don't have the photo of them all but it takes 3 children and one adult to attach 3 numbers.  Ha ha

Do you Believe?

So in my house the little make believe things are hung on to longer.  Mainly because of Hayden and his toddler like belief system.  So when Miss 11 years lost her tooth this weekend we had a conversation like this.

Me   So do you need to put your tooth out for the Tooth Fairy?

Miss 11   (a long pause with a large smile on her face)

Me  So do you believe in the Tooth Fairy?

Miss 11  Ofcourse the tooth fairy brings money.

And with that she rushed off to the kitchen to get the cup to put her tooth in.

The tooth fairy arrived before bed time and of course nothing more was said about the Tooth Fairy being real or not.

Oh yes you will note that Miss 11 is going to need dental work which is supposed to be starting later this year.  She has no fillings but realignment is necessary.

Two weeks til the end of the school term here and I can't wait.  Thank goodness for my menu as it is temporarily keeping my sanity.

Some Organisations are just Plain Generous

Today Hayden came home with a huge bag of goodies given to our family.  It is hard for many people to understand what it is like to care for a medically fragile and challenging person like we do.

So it bought nothing but smiles to our household when Hayden arrived home.  Sadly I was not home where the taxi arrived at our house with him.  He was so excited, I am told, that the bag fell appart as he got out to show his father what he had.

Anyway this will give you an idea of what volume of thoughtful little gifts were sent to us.

So thank you to the charity Emerge.  Your gifts were well appreciated in our house.
