This I know

I felt very inspired today to write this to my son.  I know that because of everything that has and does happen to Hayden, Andre sometimes feels lost.

Andre

I know that at 2 years old, our lives were for ever more changed. I feel that this has made you angry with the world at times. But these things I do know.

I love you unconditionally and always will.
You have an infectious laugh I love to hear.
You are generous in heart.
At the moment you are trying hard to find where you fit in the world.
You are great friends with your brother, no matter how different he is.
You love lego and designing things.
You give the biggest and most heart felt hugs.
You are crying inside for attention.

Son I know these things. I cant change the past but I want you to never forget I love you.

Mum

Then I created this page

Mistakes

In my mind mistakes can be just seen as learning experiences.  Like just now.  Here I am inside but my two darling little boys have decided to go out and play in the puddle.  Now this is just not any sole deep puddle but definately ankle deep at the least.  Just the sort little boys love.

So my mistake....not reminding them to stay out of the puddle.  Why.....well I dont really know except that the last thing that I really felt like doing at that moment was dealing with all those wet clothes and cold little boys right on top of making dinner.

The puddle is about three metres wide and ankle deep and the bottom of the driveway.

Now I sit down to finish typing this and find that my mistake was in not letting them play in the puddle for longer and just be children.

I omitted to mention that not only were the boys playing in the puddle but they rode their bikes through too.  Consquently Andre, all dressed for hockey got a wet bottom.  Hard to see in the photo.

Next time I will remember this let little boys be boys just maybe change the timing of the adventure so I cant be part of it.

Lest We Forget

It is a day to remember those that have given of themselves in war particularly WWI and WWII.

ANZAC is represented by the poppy seen at Flanders Field.  More information about this day celebrated in Australia and New Zealand can be found here.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep,

though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

(Sadly, McCrae died 28 January 1918 and so did not see the end of the war.)

Lest we forget.

Wordless Wednesday 21 April

Frogs....thats all that needs to be said

What is it?

What is it that makes for an organised house?  Hmmm I dont know but if anyone finds out how to make it work more completely in my house please let me know.  I have to say I miss the time when we had the lovely Rose and visit our house in Brunei twice a week to clean.  She used to help me out when I had a party and other such things.  I love everything to have a home and a place of their own.  If only the children all knew this then I would not be running around so much tripping over toys.

Really what is about being a multitasking mother that keeps us going.  Maybe it is just the great fun times we have.

Here are a couple of such moments.

And this one just full of fun

Fences

We all know that fences are for keeping children safe and dogs in even making property look great.  Of course there is the decorative side to having a fence.  They can be old and new, made of wood, brick or even corigated iron. In my case the keeping children safe thing a priority. So when it comes to Hayden things can get a little tricky as he is a flight risk from our property.  Infact it has got very serious because he climbed the fence onto the roof and 3 minutes later climbed our 7 foot fence to the neighbours property.

All these photos are of fences surrounding our 1100sq/m section.

  The fence that is old.

Fence that is new.

The new fence.

The offending fence that was climbed.

Here is the perspective of the fence of me, (164cm) standing on the garden by the fence Hayden climbed over.

Stress.....you have no idea how stressful this has become. At no time now can I think that Hayden is safe in our property unless he is asleep.

Now to come up with a solution so I dont have to lock him inside all the time and find a moment for me to destress.

Helping the Neighbour

One of our neighbours is an independently living 91 year old woman.  She loves gardening and loves her outside 1/4 arce section looking tidy.

So she has had this space with some pruned branches lying around for ages.  Every day we would see her ourside in the cool of the summers days, cutting herself some firewood.

On this particular day DH was home and thought that he would go and help, take Hayden with him.

This is what helping the neighbour looks like. Just bear in mind that Hayden operates at about a 2 1/2 year old so the mimicing of Dad is just perfect.  Notice the gloves and the smile on my two boys faces.

Our neighbour was so greatful that now she will have something to start her little fire with when winter arrives.

Wordless Wednesday 7 April

Summer fun.  Box Carting.

Shoes Makeith the Woman

Shoes makeith the woman ......well the girl in this case.  As my little, or not so little, girl heads quickly towards an age with double digits I am forced to think about how to help her fit in but to my modest set of rules.  Of course with little girls that usually has something to do with how they look.

As McKenzie is tiny in size and that means she fits clothes of little girls two years younger than her.  It has not been a problem until a move of school and trying to find new friends forced me to sit back and look at what was being asked of me.  Luckily McKenzie is not label conscience and so I am able to fulfill what is needed without spending a small fortune.

So off to my favourite on line shop for little girls and with just a few dollars spent one well loved pair of shoes ready to be worn.

Of course I need to scrapbook this moment so here it is.
