Love me

It has been quite some time since a really cute conversation took place in our house. 

Todays conversation is one that has been said for a few months in our house but is just so perfect.

Setting the scene: McKenzie is leaving the house with her father at 6.40am so that she can catch the bus for school.  Hayden and I are at home finishing his breakfast/ medication regime.  Hayden has language confusion.

Hayden  Nenzie (how Hayden says McKenzie's name)...........Love me (he really means I love you)

McKenzie  Oh thanks....I love me too. (McKenzie has a large smile on her face, she knows what he means)

This makes Hayden very happy.

What is an Idiot?

According to this little conversation Hayden who has a cognative age of about 3years suddenly decided to add his thoughts to use who were trying to help him.

Hayden  No I can do it I'm not dumb

We were all silent for a moment as we could not believe that he could even think of something like that, and then let him have a go for himself.

Do you Believe?

So in my house the little make believe things are hung on to longer.  Mainly because of Hayden and his toddler like belief system.  So when Miss 11 years lost her tooth this weekend we had a conversation like this.

Me   So do you need to put your tooth out for the Tooth Fairy?

Miss 11   (a long pause with a large smile on her face)

Me  So do you believe in the Tooth Fairy?

Miss 11  Ofcourse the tooth fairy brings money.

And with that she rushed off to the kitchen to get the cup to put her tooth in.

The tooth fairy arrived before bed time and of course nothing more was said about the Tooth Fairy being real or not.

Oh yes you will note that Miss 11 is going to need dental work which is supposed to be starting later this year.  She has no fillings but realignment is necessary.

Nothing like just a few little words to tell everybody how we feel.  Well that is according to my 8 year old.

Look there Grandad

Hayden makes us smile frequently.  This was just one of those moments that he shows where is cognative level is at.

 Hello Grandad.....yes .....yes...... Hayden said the F word.   Yes he said the naughty word..........Grandad can you see the plane in the sky....there it is.  ...look it is a cesnar.

Sometimes they say things that really make me think

As you know my son Hayden goes to a school for children/ young people who are disabled.

Yesterday I got a txt from his wonderful teacher aide (Nat)

Nat txt    just got 2 tell u hayden was in trouble with K (teacher) for pushing 2 be 1st.  He knows he gets away with murder with me so he complains about these people and I ignored him.  Thn he says these women are studpid.

Me txt     Oh he won't learn but fancy women being stupid he didn't learn that from me ha ha

Nat txt     yes I know.  we thougth it to be a classic :-)

The funny thing about this is that Haydens brain opperates at about a 2 - 3 year old.  He has trouble learning things accademic but sometimes he drags things out of his memory that I have no idea where he got it from.  In fact I don't even know that any 3 year old would have been able to come up with such a statement.

I have to say I had a little chuckle about it knowing full well that I am a 'Girls can do anything' type of gal.

Need-to-read-a-lytis

I had never heard of this condition but my delightful 11 year old daughter thought that it was an appropriate reason why she was not outside helping me garden.

My response to her condition was a treatment of sit-and-read-alotic.

So she promptly got to curing her condition.

10 Reasons not to Play Violin.

So Andre plays violin and as I sit there I have noted the reason he is handing me as to why he should not learn to play violin.   This happens as he gets really tired towards the end of the school term and especially the school year as it is now.  So here they are ....

1.   I don’t like pracitse.
2.  I never wanted to play anyway.
3.  It’s all your fault Mum.
4.  It takes too long.
5.  I can’t see my fingers to get it right
6.  Practise is boring.
7.  I have given up.
8.  I don’t sound good so I shouldn’t play.
9.  I can’t remember that bit.
10.  Hayden is distracting me.
