ANZAC Day

I know that I am a little late but on Saturday we commemorated the brave New Zealand and Australian troops who fought at Anzac Cove in Turkey 25 April 1915.

There is a growing attendance at the dawn service in New Zealand. Unfortunately it is just a little too early for this young family we did make a special trip down the road to our local memorial.

So in their memory I salute you and all those who have given up so much in the name of freedom.

For the Fallen

They shall not grow old,
As we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning,
We will remember them.

From the poem by Laurence Binyon

This is the poppy that the returned service men and women sell to help raise money to support the needs of all service men and women of New Zealand.

Finally our local memorial. Small and simple but does the job to remind us all.
